Wood is by far the most laser friendly material available. Can be left natural or color filled and sealed. The laser leaves dark contrasting color etched into the surface. The laser leaves a dark, permanent marking. PEEK plastic, also called polyether ether ketone, has grown enormously in popularity in recent years due to its. PEEK Acrylic Polycarbonate Coated/painted plastics. ![]() Many non-reflective metals can be marked. Laser Etching vaporizes the material from the surface of a substrate, revealing the base material. Annealing marking is an especially suitable process that allows for burr-free marking that is gentle on the material. Typical areas of application for laser marking of metals include product labeling and coding in the electronics industry (mobile phones, iPads), tool construction, and medical technology. Laser marking has proved successful for etching metals owing to its durability and the fact that it does not damage the material. Bottles on the other hand, tend to have soft and hard spots that will cause the engraved area to appear lightly frosted in one area and heavily frosted in another. Generally speaking, flat glass tends to have a very consistent hardness throughout, and the engraved areas do not tend to have lighter and darker areas. We can also alter the color of the mark to one color, black, blue or bronze. Logo’s, text and some graphics can be marked into glass. Like the Raptor-class scouts of this era, live food was kept aboard these Birds-of-Prey in the targ pits, presumably adjacent to the galley. ( ENT: " Cold Station 12", " The Augments") It was large enough in capacity to store a Denobulan medical ship. The shuttlebay was located on the extreme aft of the ship, directly below the impulse engines. One major flaw of the Bird-of-Prey's design was found at the nape of the ship's neck and primary hull a direct hit on the main plasma junction, located above the sensor array, could disable the entire power grid. The Bird-of-Prey's escape pod hatch was also located on the belly of the ship. Unlike the Raptor class, this class of Bird-of-Prey was equipped with escape pods. It had one emitter located on the underside of each wing that, when used in conjunction, could be used to manipulate a ship to its belly docking port. This class of vessel was equipped with tractor beam technology. It was stated by Arik Soong (in "The Augments") that the Enterprise outgunned their Bird-of-Prey "three to one." It is unclear if this statement, which seems unfair based on previous encounters, was Soong being overly cautious of the situation, or if his statement reflected the current condition of their vessel, which had sustained some damage at that time and was limited to warp 3.8. ( ENT: " The Expanse", " Borderland", " Cold Station 12") This class, however, had minimal aft weapons. The class was also equipped with dual photon torpedo launchers, positioned fore and aft, and defensive shields. The offensive arsenal of the Bird-of-Prey was rather impressive, for the time, as the ship possessed at least eight forward disruptor banks, including a twin pair of neck-mounted disruptor cannons, a pair of wing-tip mounted disruptor cannons, and a 360º rotating turret containing twin belly-mounted disruptor cannons. The port and starboard nacelles were directly connected to the extreme upper aft section of the ship, perpendicular to the impulse engine. Located on the caudal section of the ship were the ship's shuttlebay, impulse engines and two warp nacelles. The bridge module was located on a bulbous forward section, which was separated from the aft section by a relatively thin 'neck' that attached to and flared into the aft portion which swept down below the main body, forming wings. The bulk of the ship's overall mass was incorporated in the aft section of the ship. Technical data Physical arrangement Ĭomparable in design to its sister classes, the Raptor-class scout vessel and D5-class battle cruiser, the exterior design of the Bird-of-Prey utilized the same basic avian design, including vaguely feather-like hull plating on its wings. This Bird-of-Prey design was revamped over the next two centuries, and was used to represent several different variations of this class that were collectively known under the same name. ( ENT: " The Expanse") Starfleet, however, had known of the existence of these ships as early as late 2151. The first encounter occurred on the outer perimeter of the Sol system in early 2153. ![]() This class is one of the earliest class of starships encountered by Earth Starfleet during the early 2150s. ![]() 11/18/2023 0 Comments Pseudounipolar axon vs dendrite![]() Typically, when an electrochemical signal stimulates a neuron, it occurs at a dendrite and causes changes in the electrical potential across the neuron's plasma membrane. Dendrites provide an enlarged surface area to receive signals from the terminal buttons of other axons, and the axon also commonly divides at its far end into many branches ( telodendria) each of which ends in a nerve terminal, allowing a chemical signal to pass simultaneously to many target cells. Typically, axons transmit electrochemical signals and dendrites receive the electrochemical signals, although some types of neurons in certain species lack axons and simply transmit signals via their dendrites. Dendrites often taper off in shape and are shorter, while axons tend to maintain a constant radius and be relatively long. Axons can be distinguished from dendrites by several features including shape, length, and function. Structure The green arrow shows the dendrites emanating from soma.ĭendrites are one of two types of protoplasmic protrusions that extrude from the cell body of a neuron, the other type being an axon. ![]() Electrical stimulation is transmitted onto dendrites by upstream neurons (usually via their axons) via synapses which are located at various points throughout the dendritic tree.ĭendrites play a critical role in integrating these synaptic inputs and in determining the extent to which action potentials are produced by the neuron. Please see for interactive version.Ī dendrite (from Greek δένδρον déndron, "tree") or dendron is a branched protoplasmic extension of a nerve cell that propagates the electrochemical stimulation received from other neural cells to the cell body, or soma, of the neuron from which the dendrites project. The dendrites receive a signal, the axon hillock funnels the signal to the initial segment and the initial segment triggers the activity (action potential) that is sent along the axon towards the synapse. ![]() Synapses allow neurons to activate other neurons. Schwann cells make activity move faster down axon. The neuron contains dendrites that receives information, a cell body called the soma, and an axon that sends information. When the ice melts, it will distribute the dye into a random pattern. Cover the gathered fabric with crushed ice and then add the dye.Just before you add the dye, place the fabric on a rack (so the excess dye won't pool under the fabric).Choose which method you'd like to use for rubber banding, twisting and folding your fabric. You can use something as simple as frozen water to create a completely different tie-dye pattern, like this unique design from Seamwork. Once the color is gone, you can put colored dye on the bleached spots, or leave it as-is.Add bleach to remove the color from the fabric rather than adding it.Pick whatever method you want to use with rubber bands to create patterns.Instead of using white or light-colored fabric and adding dye, you can achieve the opposite on a black or darker fabric, like this example from Hot Pink & Glitter. While an ombre design can be made using multiple colors, the most common pattern is done with only one, like in this example from Craft Thyme. Put rubber bands starting just below where you're pinching the fabric and continue adding rubber bands every inch or two going down to the outer edges of the fabric.Pinch wherever you want the center of the "bull's-eye" to be located and lift the fabric from that point. It has a small circle in the center and is surrounded by other, gradually larger circles that reach to the edge of the fabric. ![]() The bull's-eye pattern is exactly what it sounds like.
